It was a historic day when in August of 2005 the FCA National Board voted unanimously to start the first-ever international branch of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Bogotá, Colombia. Since then we have expanded the ministry to twelve major cities in both Colombia and Venezuela. Leading the charge is James Oilar. Now married to a Colombian native and fluent in Spanish, James has surrounded himself with a great team of both paid and volunteer staff.

Their three main ministry focuses are to:

  1. Leverage the local church to form competitive Christian Sports Leagues in each city in
order to meet the needs of the financially challenged athletes that can’t afford to “pay to play.”

  2. Challenge the coach to implement a 3Dimensional Coaching Strategy and

  3. Serve existing sports teams by providing an FCA Chaplain.

Giving the ministry additional momentum is the excitement surrounding the 2018 Central America and Caribbean Games. Over 5,000 of the highest level coaches and athletes from more than 30 countries will gather in the city of Barranquilla to compete in this historic event. Preparations have already begun to take advantage of this unique opportunity and coordinate ministry efforts with other Latin America FCA Staff and Volunteers. Until then, Colombia-Venezuela FCA will continue to grow and expand to additional cities focusing on the North Coast Regions of both Colombia and Venezuela. Their goal is to be in the 24 major cities with a million or more population by 2018, thus doubling their current size. Please pray for the wisdom, wealth and workers needed to make an eternal impact in the lives of every coach and every athlete in Colombia and Venezuela.

Mission & Vision

  • To impact Colombia and Venezuela for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.

  • To present to athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church.
coaches

 Why The Coach?

The coach is one of the most influential individuals in our society. It has been said that a coach will influence more people in one year than most people will in a lifetime. FCA seeks to equip and encourage coaches to grow in their faith and become transformational in how they coach their athletes and influence other coaches.

camps

Why FCA Camp?

FCA Camp takes the best attributes of an athletic-focused camp and a spiritual-focused camp and combines them into an athletic/spiritual experience like none other. FCA Camp removes athletes and coaches from the rut and routine of their sport, friends/co-workers and community and places them into an exciting, healthy, athletic environment that allows them to pursue their passion for sport and clearly see and hear the Christ’s passion for them.

campus

 Why Campus Ministry?

Over 99% of all people will at some point attend high school or college. The Campus Ministry is initiated and led by student-athletes and coaches on junior high, high school and college campuses. The purpose of Campus Ministry, through various types, has been to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the lost and to seek to grow and mature a follower of Jesus Christ. The “win” of Campus Ministry is to see campuses impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of athletes and coaches.

community

Why Community Ministry?

The majority of athletes play sports in the community instead of traditional non-campus programs. FCA Community Ministry is the off-campus opportunities to reach coaches and athletes through the club and recreation sport environment as well as the local church.  FCA is ministering to the club, recreational and youth sports teams with the goal of establishing on-going ministry for coaches and athletes to compete for Jesus Christ with character, passion and excellence.
